TVos Design Challenge
2021
Project Summary
The STARZ TV app allows users who subscribe to STARZ services to enjoy a vast library of premium TV shows and movies.
STARZ already competes with some of the most dominant technology brands like Disney+, Netflix, HBOMax, and Hulu, but has yet to find their differentiated selling point for new users.
The solution was a User-User Social Sharing Feature adapted around intensive user research and a detailed user flow that would introduce returning users to this new feature update on their Smart TV or Streaming Console.

The Problem
How might we reduce the user cancellation rate and the overall user base’s perceived lack of relevant content? A substantial chunk of these users enter the app only to watch a STARZ Original Series and don’t spend time exploring the app.
Main Goals
Quickly suggest new content for users to watch based on the recommendations of users in their social circle.
Reduce the browsing time that users take on their path-to-play preferred content experience.
Promote a social connection between current users.
Leverage existing users' real-world social lives to grow the user base of the STARZ app.

Project Challenges
Hunting down branding guidelines and TVos UI kits
Since this whole project was part of my application to work at STARZ, I had limited access to STARZ design assets. Mostly everything I had to find myself.
Limited Timeline
I was working on a condensed project timeline while I was finishing my UX program, as well as my own freelance clients.
First time designing for TV’s
This was the first time I have had to design for TVos and handheld remote interactions.
